Karaoke Machines - Introduction

The Japanese term “karaoke” translates as “empty orchestra” and a karaoke machine gives you the chance to be the star and to sing, or at times ruin, some of your all time favourite songs. The machine will play the backing track to your chosen song and will also flash the lyrics across the screen to ensure that you sing the correct words in time with the music.

Karaoke began in Japan in the 1970s and became popular in bars. It went on to become a hit in other countries across Asia and eventually made its way to the USA and the UK in the 1990s.

Although still popular in pubs and bars around the world, karaoke has now have become great form of entertainment within the home. It’s loved by people of all ages and is a fantastic way of amusing guests at a party.

There are a number of different types of karaoke machine on the market and there are many karaoke DVDs, CDs and CD-Gs on the market for you to buy, so you won’t get bored with the selection of tracks you have to choose from.
